The Blind Man Garden Nadeem Aslam Books

The Blind Man Garden Nadeem Aslam Books
This is by far one of the best books I've read over the past few years. When we (Americans) talk about Islam and terrorism, we don't consider that behind every terrorist are families, histories, longings for peace, a need to understand and be understood. It seems easier to just hate without looking for reasons, for cause and effect. The themes of love, forgiveness, sorrow, crushing poverty, the beauties in nature run throughout this work. It is a deeply moving and tragic book which leaves just enough room for hope while at the same time paying tribute to skillful writing. Metaphors abound, lives move separately and intersect. I wish I could write a better review but I can't capture what I want to say being much better at reading than at writing.

The Blind Man Garden Nadeem Aslam Books Reviews
Beautifully written, compelling, and heart breaking. The best book I have read this year. I highly recommend it. Now I must go and read his other books. C P.
A powerful novel about how war has effected the people on the borderlands of Afghanistan and Pakistan. Love, hate, hope and despair combine in a fog war to shape the destiny of people sight on it. A unique look into roots of age and anti-Americanism in Pakistan.
Very important book for the insight the reader gets into 9/11 as seen by Pakistani's and Afghans. Beautiful and sensitive awareness of a side of the world Westerners usually are not aware of and a good story. The ending is weak but it doesn't take away from the power of the rest of the book.
The garden brings people together as they contemplate the serenity, balance, and simplicity of the plants, design, vistas and mists. People are touched emotionally and their lives take different paths because of their attachment to the garden and the master gardner.
Very moving novel of post 9/11 period in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Family torn apart by war conditions. Insight into Muslim religious practices and traditions.
I bought this for a class, but it's now one of my favorites. It's beautifully written and probes some dark territory concerning war, identity, self-presevation, the importance of a connection to a spiritual and natural world, and how love--not romantic or platonic, just pure and deep love--fits into systems of violence.
One of the most hauntingly written novels that still informs the readers about dilemmas that the Moslem religion faces and the politics of Afghanistan and Pakistan after 9-11. Great storytelling that causes a look ones own beliefs
